Syria-s Business

Whether or not you like President Obama, you have to concede that he is a pretty dapper dude. Tonight he addressed the nation in a classic blue suit and powder blue tie. Take a hint from our president and stick to the basics for your next work-related event and you’re sure to look pulled together!Syria-s Business

What do you think of this take on the classic navy suit? Would you wear this to a work meeting, or job interview?

Nail Polish Inspiration: Coral

I gave in… I got an ULTAmate Rewards card! I try to keep the sign-up cards to a minimum (who needs to carry that many things in their wallet?), but I figured I would really get some use out of this one since I’m starting to get addicted to try out new beauty products. I love Ulta because it’s a much more affordable version of Sephora, and I can get knowledgable staff to match my skin tone for products like foundation and concealer, instead of guessing my shade at Walmart. Another great thing about Ulta that I didn’t know is that they allow returns as long as 80% of the product hasn’t been used, meaning if you try a shade and it just doesn’t look as perfect as you like then you can return it!

On my recent shopping trip with my mom we both walked around the store on our own and met up in the middle to show what we had grabbed. Turns out we had both picked up this fun summer shade, too funny! If you’re looking for the perfect coral polish for summer, look no further! My pictures are a tad dark, but I think you can still tell how beautifully this color applies for a nice glossy finish.

I love how clean and mod this polish looks by itself! I didn’t have time to do anything fancy with my mani, but check out some inspiration for what you can do with this great shade with a little more effort and additional polishes:

More Pieces Based on Albrecht Dürer’s “Rhinoceros”

I loved loved loved my most recent post that I did for College Fashion on Albrecht Dürer! His woodcuts are truly amazing, and wonderfully modern-looking for having been created in the sixteenth century! Unfortunately I only make three looks for each article so I don’t have room to fit in all the pieces I like. However, that just means that I have some great ones left over to share with you guys, sort of like a Polyvore Clipping Haul! Hmm, maybe I should start renaming these posts… haha. Anyways, check out these great “leftovers” from my most recent post on College Fashion and be sure to check out my other articles!

Fashion How-To: Dress for Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is so close that I can almost taste the delicious food! I know that I turn into a little piggy around the holiday season because there seems to be a ton of delicious food around all the time. However, you don’t want to be bemoaning your outfit choice or unbuttoning your pants to make room after the feast! Why not stick with a simple, loose dress that is easy to move in (if you’re helping making dinner) and still comfortable after all of that stuffing!
stuffing-ready dresses
I’d suggest wearing skinny jeans, tights, or leggings under all of these to keep you warm. Just make sure they’re not too tight, or you’ll be even more miserable than if you wore a bodycon dress! It’s the holidays, so don’t be afraid to add a little sparkle with your accessories – just make sure not to wear rings or loose bracelets if you’re cooking. All of the dresses I chose give you a little extra room around your tummy so that you can enjoy all that delicious food, but remember that you don’t have to eat more than your fill – don’t let grandma tell you so, either! But even more importantly, don’t forget what the holiday is really about. Be thankful for the blessings you have in your life, and help others if you have any spare time at all. Volunteering at a food bank or donating food is easy to do, and can really make a difference. Let’s try to make more people thankful for what they have this year, rather than wishing for what they need.

Halloween Costume Inspiration: Tardis

Hello fellow Who-vians! I have wanted to do a Doctor Who themed post for awhile now, but this just seemed like the perfect occasion. If you’re unfamiliar with this British show, it’s about a time lord who travels through time and space with his companions in his space ship, the T.A.R.D.I.S., saving civilizations. Although the characters don’t spend the majority of the show in the actual tardis, I’ve always been fascinated by the bigger-on-the-inside concept and, of course, that brilliant blue. If you’re looking to showcase your nerd side this Halloween, why not go as everyone’s favorite time and space ship?

If you wanted to be a little more true to the object itself, you could make windows out of fabric or paper and attach them to the torso of your dress. Don’t be afraid to accessorize with tights for a chilly evening or some bright red lipstick to add a retro vibe. Have fun with it: wear a trench coat a la David Tennant and unveil your outfit once you get to the party. See you at some later point in time and space — allons-y!
