Time for some more mani fun! After drooling over some gorgeous Tiffany’s jewelry, I was inspired to create a mint/teal nail design. While I don’t have China Glaze For Audrey (although I have been eyeing it for awhile…), I do have essie Mint Candy Apple, and so that’s what I went with and I absolutely adore it!

A little sloppy, I know, but I forgot to take a picture after clean up! This picture was taken indoors in artificial lighting with two coats of polish and a top coat, although it remains pretty true to color. I love how the little polka dots add some visual interest for a mid-week pick me up! I always get tons of compliments whenever I wear this color, and it lasted until I took it off over a week later! Try it out for yourself and check out what other crafty designs lacqueristas have done with this polish below:

Yay it’s August! To celebrate, I wanted to share my favorite nail polish that I’ve worn over and over again in the past few weeks — essie Shine of the Times! It was introduced in essie’s Holiday 2011 Luxeffects Collection (see swatches of the other polishes in the collection here!), and has since been continued. I’ve read a few posts online about lucky ducks who manage to find a discounted bottle in their local drugstore, but for the most part you have to buy this “endangered species” online. If you’re even remotely into glitter or “flakie” (irregularly sized, iridescent glitter) polishes, then this is your nail Mecca!

While it gives a textured look, Shine of the Times applies and dries super smoothly. Sadly, try as I might, my camera could not fully capture the gorgeous colors the polish reflects. The flakes are sometimes a pinky-peach, gold, and bright green all at the same time! Here are some more examples to give you an idea of this polish’s diversity:

Today I was privileged to work with rising 6th graders for 555-XXL, a career day run by Roanoke City Schools where the students get to tour and learn about the museum where I intern, the Taubman Museum of Art. While I can definitely say that the six-hour program was tiring, it was also lots of fun to escort my group of 32 kids around and teach them about some of the most exciting parts of the museum. In honor of this exciting, youthful occasion I gave myself an extra-fun mani to match the mood! Nothing quite represents the energy and inquisitiveness of a sixth grader as well as bright pink and glitter to me!

This color combo is so girly and reminds me of confetti — I feel like I’m always prepared for life’s party! The girls loved it and some of the boys even commented on the glitter, too funny! Check out what other lacqueristas have created with this great glitter polish below:

Bonus, check out the kids watching the museum careers videos — so attentive! Hope your day was as rewarding as mine!

If you don’t already know, I am an essie addict! Not only do they produce amazing new color collections every season, but I love their polish formulas — they go on easily and stay on! I picked up one of their new colors from their Summer 2013 collection, a beautiful shimmery tangerine named Sunday Funday, and I am loving it for my new pedi! Check out the entire collection below:
And here’s my awesome pedi — loving the subtle shimmer with this shade that looks great on my lightly-tanned feet! To create the hearts, I followed a tutorial from The Beauty Department, a cute blog about girly products, from makeup to hair. This looks great with the lighter Tart Deco mani I did earlier today!

I gave in… I got an ULTAmate Rewards card! I try to keep the sign-up cards to a minimum (who needs to carry that many things in their wallet?), but I figured I would really get some use out of this one since I’m starting to get addicted to try out new beauty products. I love Ulta because it’s a much more affordable version of Sephora, and I can get knowledgable staff to match my skin tone for products like foundation and concealer, instead of guessing my shade at Walmart. Another great thing about Ulta that I didn’t know is that they allow returns as long as 80% of the product hasn’t been used, meaning if you try a shade and it just doesn’t look as perfect as you like then you can return it!
On my recent shopping trip with my mom we both walked around the store on our own and met up in the middle to show what we had grabbed. Turns out we had both picked up this fun summer shade, too funny! If you’re looking for the perfect coral polish for summer, look no further! My pictures are a tad dark, but I think you can still tell how beautifully this color applies for a nice glossy finish.

I love how clean and mod this polish looks by itself! I didn’t have time to do anything fancy with my mani, but check out some inspiration for what you can do with this great shade with a little more effort and additional polishes:
