Sunday Spins: Rain Dance

Welcome to Sunday Spins! A weekly post where I share the hoop love — hope you guys enjoy!

So, first of all I want to apologize for my recent absence from the blogosphere. I have been working on setting up my greeting card shop, which is finally up and running! If you’re interested, please check it out and let me know what you think: rompadomp. I love working with people on custom designs, so please email me if you’re interested!

This week I found an amazing video of hooper Mike Hayataka showing off his skills while caught in a light rainstorm. This guy has a unique and cool flow, I highly recommend watching a few of his videos.

And check out this fun hoop — talk about a cool flow of design! I love how colorful it is compared to the common one-color polypros you usually see.

Have you ever hooped in the rain or other inclement weather? What do you think of Mike’s flow? See you next week, hoop lovers!

Fashion Inspired by Art: “Singin’ in the Rain” Movie Poster from 1952

I’ve been loving my posts over at College Fashion so much that I decided to expand them to different topics, like movies and books, here at Aphrodite Perception! For my very first one, I wanted to do a poster from a movie that is very dear to my heart — Singin’ in the Rain from 1952. This movie is a classic, a staple for any Gene Kelly fan, and is widely regarded as one of the best musicals of all time. I particularly love the humorous microcosm of The Dancing Cavalier storyline within the plot. I won’t spoil it for you, but please rent this movie for your next popcorn and movie night! It’s sure to make you smile and brighten your day. (I even wake up to “Good Morning” on my lazy weekends!)Fashion Inspired by Art: Singin' in the Rain
P.S. – Shout out to all Etsy sellers — I love every single one of you and try to always feature Etsy pieces whenever possible. If you haven’t already, check Etsy out here, but be warned: you’re going to want one of everything!

Fashion How-To: Dress for Rainy Days

These past few weeks have been unusually humid for fall in Blacksburg, so I thought it was about time I posted ideas for how to dress appropriate on rainy days while still feeling like yourself! All too often rain days mean covering yourself in water-resistant attire instead of showing off your clothes, so here are some cute examples of rain-appropriate accessories to start your outfits off on a feminine note.

Umbrellas-

These are essential if you plan on trekking across campus for most of the day. Plus, they help keep your hair styled without crushing it! Without the sunshine filling you with vitamin D you can often feel sluggish and depressed, so go for one that puts a smile on your face!

2- Purple Bubble Umbrella

3- Peacock Umbrella

4- Degas Umbrella

5- Pink Pug Silhouette Umbrella

Rain Boots-

If it’s not pouring, I sometimes like to opt for a regular tall boot, but if puddles are starting to form them rain boots are a must. Add some fun with unexpected colors, or wear patterned boots with an understated outfit to draw attention to them.

2- Hunter Black Gloss Rain Boots

3- Tretorn Purple Rain Boots

4- Anna Neon Pink Rain Boots

5- Nomad Tan Rain Boots

And don’t forget…

Just because it’s raining doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice your style to cover up. My favorite thing to do on rainy days is wear a dress or a skirt. It really makes me feel girly, and if you pair it with tights or leggings then you can stay warm, too! The third row is some fashion inspiration to guide you on your path to being rainy day chic! Stay dry!
