Monday Must-Haves: London Look

Hello my beautiful readers! Welcome back to Monday Must-Haves! As you may have noticed, I have been quite absent from the blogging world as of late. Thankfully, I have something amazing to show for it: my new Etsy store, Rompadomp! Currently featuring fall-themed greeting cards and handmade jewelry, my little shop is constantly adding new inventory! And because I love my readers so much, I’m offering you guys a special coupon code for 30% off! Just enter BLOG30 during checkout :)

And now for my fashion picks! It was recently joked that I should moved to London with my boyfriend and soak up some international culture while I’m still free to roam as I please. While the suggestion wasn’t entirely serious, I have been absolutely loving London-inspired fashion! Check out some of my favorite finds:

While I love each of these pieces individually, they make a fab looking outfit! I couldn’t help but feature the Butter London “Wellies” that I talked about briefly in my nail polish of the month post as well, such a unique chartreuse! Hope to be back and posting on a more regular basis as before! xoxo

Monday Must-Haves: Cute and Comfy

Welcome back to Monday Must-Haves! Let’s get comfy — when the temperature starts to drop, it’s time to break out your cold weather clothes. Fall means covering up with layers, but that doesn’t mean you can’t be stylish. Try adding subtle textures to your outfit, such as overlapping fabrics and embellishments like buttons and ruching. Here’s a few things I’m loving this week:Monday Must-Haves: Cute and Comfy
How amazing is that sweater? So cute and easy to style, whether you’re meeting up with a girlfriend for coffee or are heading out to conquer a corn maze. I am seriously considering splurging on it…
As for jewelry, I like to stick to things that lie closer to my body during the fall months, which keeps them warm. Nothing annoys me more than coming inside after walking in from my car and having freezing cold dangly earrings assault my naked neck. It’s time to shop for some fun new stud earrings!

Nail Polish Inspiration: Dark Green + Glitter

It’s feeling like fall! For this mani, I wanted to go for a deeper green to pay homage to the color of the year (Emerald), while still keeping it fun and autumn appropriate. Here’s what I came up with that’s subtle enough to wear to work, yet fun enough to feel like you dressed up for a night out:

Orly Sparkling Garbage + essie Stylenomics

Taken indoors under artificial lighting, the glint of Sparkling Garbage really brings out the green undertones of Stylenomics (even though it’s difficult to see in this picture). I applied two coats of Stylesnomics on all nails, two coats of Sparkling Garbage on my accent nails, and finally one top coat.

I love this color combination and, with any luck and hopefully very few dishes to wash, am looking forward to rocking it for awhile. Look at some of the other great designs people have come up with to compliment the unique shade of Sparkling Garbage below:

Monday Must-Haves: Falling into Simplicity

Welcome back to Monday Must-Haves! If you’re like me, you’ve definitely been putting some thought into your new fall/winter wardrobe. I love classics with a twist that I can continue to wear in seasons and years to come. Check out some of my favorites for this week that are giving me inspiration for my fall wardrobe:Monday Must-Haves: Falling into Simplicity
Gold accessories are a must for fall and lend a warm glow to any skin tone. Also, another one of my favorite makeup look this season is wine-colored lips — I love, love love them! The strong color can appear a little intimidating for people who tend to shy away from lip color, so I would recommend starting with a light lip stain first, like Revlon Color Stay Just Bitten Lipstain + Balm in Twilight. That’s what I’ve been wearing almost daily since the start of September, and I’m ready to graduate to a lip tar, which is more pigmented and longer lasting. Check out OCC Lip Tar in Vintage for a stronger look and embrace your inner fall goddess!

Nail Polish Inspiration: Mint

Time for some more mani fun! After drooling over some gorgeous Tiffany’s jewelry, I was inspired to create a mint/teal nail design. While I don’t have China Glaze For Audrey (although I have been eyeing it for awhile…), I do have essie Mint Candy Apple, and so that’s what I went with and I absolutely adore it!

A little sloppy, I know, but I forgot to take a picture after clean up! This picture was taken indoors in artificial lighting with two coats of polish and a top coat, although it remains pretty true to color. I love how the little polka dots add some visual interest for a mid-week pick me up! I always get tons of compliments whenever I wear this color, and it lasted until I took it off over a week later! Try it out for yourself and check out what other crafty designs lacqueristas have done with this polish below:

essie Fall 2013 Collection

Fall is finally in the air and I’m ready for autumn nail polishes! While some brands tend to go for a bright fall look (like Butter London’s Fall 2013 collection), essie sticks to the classical fall palette of muted jewel-tones and neutrals that it knows best. These colors are perfect for the September transition into fall, with enough variety to set them apart from summer shades.

Here’s how essie is advertising the colors:

  • After School Boy Blazer- academy blue-black
  • Cashmere Bathrobe- true flannel gray
  • For the Twill of It- rich medium brown with reflective green shimmer
  • The Lace is On- glistening jewel toned pearlescent fuchsia
  • Twin Sweater Set- vibrant crimson red
  • Vested Interest- cool gray teal

While the palette remains roughly the same as last year’s collection (below), there is enough variety to warrant picking up a few of the shades for fall 2013. Continue reading

Monday Must-Haves: Fall Fashion

Welcome back to Monday Must-Haves! This past week autumn has definitely been in the air, and I can’t wait! Easily my favorite season, fall means lots of soft, warm clothes and layers, layers, layers! Check out some of the fun fall accessories I love that are sure to compliment the always-trendy jewel tones of the colder months:Monday Must-Haves: Fall Fashion
If you’re looking to update your fall wardrobe, think about classic pieces that will last you for years. And for the more “fun” accessories, the key is to choose simple pieces with a twist. For example, the navy booties above are a clean silhouette and can work with jeans, a pair of tights, or even a short skirt for going out! Like Coco Chanel said, less is more!

Monday Must-Haves: Back to Basics

Welcome back to Monday Must-Haves! By now, most colleges and seasonal jobs have started back into their daily grind. Check out these basics that will keep you looking and feeling your best throughout the entire upcoming year.Monday Must-Haves: Back to Basics
It’s time to start anew — think simple and clean! If you keep yourself organized, it’s easier to focus your attention on other things, like asking that cute guy who moved in next door if he wants to come over and join weekly game night!

Nail Polish of the Month: September 2013

Yay, it’s finally September! Autumn is my absolute favorite season — I love the mix of bright and dark colors, they lend themselves to such unique outfits and accessories. Thankfully, Butter London has released their new Fall 2013 collection, and it embraces the more colorful side of the season.

I picked up one of the shades, Pimms (the bright, true yellow) a few weeks ago and have been wearing it ever since! Unfortunately, I have been really negligent about taking photos of my manis recently, but in the meantime check out this pic for an example of Pimms’s true coloring:

Try this bright yellow by itself or add some other colors to your design for a bright, colorful mani like the ones below:
